I love taking pictures of my son. I love capturing his funny mimics, his adventures and our daily life.
My husband on the other hand, never, and I mean, never thinks to take pictures. We end up with albums of our son alone or with his dad. The odd few pictures of me we end up having are selfies, oddly positioned timed pictures or from the random person that may be with us that day. There is no consistency in pictures of myself with my son.
I wish my husband could take a nice picture. However, I think he is genetically and physically unable to do so. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason professional photographers and selfie sticks were invested! Because of the inability of husbands to take nice, creative or even centered photos of us with our kids!
Most nice pictures of myself and my son are completely orchestrated!
This picture was taken on a ledge with a timer!
This beautiful picture is completely staged because I want to remember sleeping and cuddling with my son! If I don't stage it, I won't have it to cherish when he's older and independent. According to my dear hubby, if everyone is not looking directly at the camera lens, it's not a picture worth keeping.
I wish my husband could take great pictures. I wish we could go on holidays and he would spontaneously click a few pictures of me and our son in the moment, not staged, directed or timed!
To give you an example of his abilities, this picture of us was requested by me.. looks nice.
It isn't a bad picture, okay! However, what you don't see is on the left of me there was this beautiful willow tree and an beautiful old medieval bridge. So, the magical elements of the picture aren't even present.
When I asked him to take it, I have this beautiful shot composition in my mind.
In the future, when I will look at this picture, I won't know why or where it was taken and it's already lost its magical touch.
With this in mind, I will continue to stage pictures of myself with my son! I will continue to use self timers and selfie sticks!
